The Filipino American is the first person of Asian descent to lead the management consulting firm.
Filipino American Manny Maceda was named chairman of Bain & Company in February 2025 in the management consulting firm’s first leadership change in three decades. It was a fitting reward for his 36 years of loyal service since joining Bain fresh out of a graduate management program.
Equally important was the leadership Maceda provided as the first Asian to hold the title of Worldwide Managing Partner and CEO in doubling Bain’s revenues from $3 billion in 2018 to $6 billion by 2023.
The growth was driven by a boom in digital advisory work, strategic transactions, and a push toward more advanced digital and technology capabilities. This focus has continued in his new post as Chairman. In May Bain announced a global partnership to combine Bain’s strategic transformation and industry expertise with Palantir’s state-of-the-art AI platforms.
His long years of leadership helped build Bain’s distinctive company culture for which it was named #1 on Glassdoor's list of Best Places to Work four times in the past 10 years, including in 2024 and 2025.
Since joining Bain in 1989 Maceda has provided management consulting to CEOs and organizations in strategy, performance and growth with an emphasis in the technology sector.
In addition to his chairmanship at Bain the 62-year-old serves on the boards of the Stryker Corporation and the Ayala Corporation. He is a founding partner of The Asian American Foundation.
Maceda is a naturalized US citizen who was born in the Philippines as the eldest son of the late political figure Ernesto Maceda.
He graduated with a bachelor of science in chemical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1984 and a master of science in management from MIT in 1989.
Maceda is married to Lyra of the Rufino family which is prominent in business, innovation and philanthropy in the Philippines.
