Top Chinese Firms Train AI Overseas to Access Nvidia Chips

Alibaba and ByetDance are among major Chinese tech groups training large language models in Southeast Asia to be able to access Nvidia chips.
Top Chinese firms are training their artificial intelligence models abroad to access Nvidia's chips and avoid U.S. measures aimed at curbing their progress in advanced technology, Financial Times reported on Thursday.
Alibaba and ByteDance are among the tech groups training their latest large language models in data centres across South-east Asia, the report said, citing two people with direct knowledge of the matter.
Reuters could not immediately verify the report.
